How many John Smiths are there in the world? How many different meaningful configurations of John Smiths can we get for name dialing?

Everyone can generate thousands of meaningful configurations if you combine the family name with the profession, location or hobby.
BTW the same question appears for web addresses. It wasn't a problem there.

Point taken.
Actually could be fun. People in many countries and cultures identify themselves by their home town or profession
English equivalent - John Smith the Baker,
or John Smith from Essex - those cultures have short-formed it nicely.

Three-word-domain-names are worthless for .com-domains, too.
But users can be very creative: JohnX, John78, TheOnlyJohn, JohnsWorld, John-me, ..........
Much better possibilities for domain names are adoptable than the long and not memorizable names we can observe daily at Telnames.
