It is good that this increase of price comes now. Before it I had doubts what to do. Now it become much easier for me to drop all my unnecessary TELs.

I noticed that the more TELs I had, the less joyful and less easy-minded I was. Less TELs - more fun.

It is interesting, what were the reasons, which caused that increase of the price? If it was exclusively name_com decision, then it is one thing, and it could mean nothing else but a greed. But if we will suppose, that this change was caused by increase of Telnic's basic TEL's price (about which we do not know now), then it would be completely different thing. And then it could mean that company want to reduce number or registered TELs.

You don't have to pay more than before if you transfer your domains to a cheaper registrar:

In many comments I can read frustration.
Most of the anger comes from the cancelation of announced features, but why should Telnic develop something for a small group that is even declining in numbers?

Why everybody is expecting Telnic will be successful in the same speed as Google and Facebook? That's a little bit unrealistic.
Tel is new invention and certainly needs a little bit more time to be discovered.
Why not calming down and giving Tel a fair chance?

Don't be so angry only because Tel hasn't made you rich yet.
With some distance you can see nothing really bad has ever happened.

A price increase of 50 % doesn't look like a smart move.
$2 or $3 more would be okay, but this action will lead to transfers away from name.com.
With this step name.com can easily lose the leading position in .tel business.

I would place the reason and it's consequence in another order: registrations are declining in numbers because Telnic do not develop anything. Even do not try to develop.

P.S.
About 20 people are in their office. What they all do there in their working hours?

I see the correlation, too.
The registrations are declining exactly since the moment after Telnic canceled the development in general and withdrew the announced features (new control panel, roadmap and etcetera):

Price counts

Post by silvano on Mon 06 May 2013, 3:06 am

Price counts, an example:

The ICM registry says they have sold over 1,000 new .XXX registrations in first 24 hrs since they announced the temporary price decrease (in the last reported months with ICANN, October 2012 to November 2012, ICM reported that the number of registered .XXX domain names grew by less than 200).

As I posted recently:

mikeseaton wrote:IMO the biggest danger Telnic now faces is that software developers, domain investors, power users and registrars (****** off with the Telnames direct-sell operation) will simply lose interest in the .tel extension !

There are nearly 2000 opportunities coming up soon with the new gTLDs - .tel will have to compete with these for people's time and money.

All new 2000 gTLDs will require a website developer and only .tel can be developed by someone who does not have a clue about programming but I guess for you there is no difference between .tel and other TLDs

@marimax

For me there is a big difference - I fully understand the concept of Phase 2 dial/email/skype a .tel - but for "Joe Public" they just see Telnames marketing and promotion of a single page .tel (as shown by http://YourBusiness.tel) but risk ending up with something completely different (a Telnic subdomain .tel) when they register one at their favorite registrar.

A recipe for confusion, dissatisfaction, and ultimately business disaster as has been pointed out by several Telnic and TelTalk forum members before !

I don't need a website developer and I don't need any programming knowledge to create better websites than .tel:
http://www.teltalk.org/t800-a-small-collection-of-competitors-for-telnames
The biggest difference between .tel and all other gTLDs is that .tel is extremely limited in options.
