What can you do if all requests, wishes and complaints get ignored by a service provider?
I recommend stopping bumping your head against walls!
The only right solution can be to ignore that service provider in return!
This is what I'll do from today!
If a company prefers to survive without customers, so be it!
I'm sure that when money is running out, somebody will be happy to supply another 35 million.

@Sunrise - fully understand how you feel - remember The Nice Thing About Banging Your Head Against A Brick Wall Is When You Stop Doing It !

What surprises me is that some forum members still seem to think there will be further development and marketing of the original Telnic subdomain .tels, despite all the evidence supplied by Telnic/Telnames to the contrary ie:

mikeseaton wrote:- Telnic have cancelled their .tel Roadmap
- Telnic have cancelled their .Telegraph Newsletter
- Telnic have put their Forum into "lockdown" mode
- Telnic have put a stop to any real development of subdomain .tels
- The new iPhone & Android apps are only for Telnames .tels
- The Affiliate Program is only for Telnames .tels
- The TV ads, Business shows, Radio interviews, etc are only for Telnames .tels

IT'S PRETTY OBVIOUS - Telnic subdomain .tels have no marketable future !
When the message gets through I expect many existing Telnic subdomain .tel registrants will also quit the .tel project.

BUT I just have this feeling that Telnic/Telnames may be OK with this - it's obvious they have decided the future lies with Telnames single-page .tels - the only problem is how to get rid of the thousands of existing Telnic subdomain .tels ?

I could be wrong about this of course, and Telnic may suddenly re-introduce the .tel Roadmap, restart the .Telegraph Newsletter, remove "lockdown" from their Forum and start to develop the Telnic subdomain .tel format again.

But all the evidence supplied by them so far would suggest I am right !

Interesting! The first company in the world that tries to get rid of 333,000 customers (March 2011) for the purpose of gaining another 9,000 customers! One third of the target is already accomplished (May 2013)!

They say everyone is good at something !

Seriously though, Frank makes a legitimate and logical point, perhaps this should be filed under "You couldn't make it up !".

Even at this late stage the situation may be salvageable for the .tel project - here's my suggested course of action for Telnic/Telnames:

1. Come clean with ALL the people involved with the .tel project - software developers, domain investors, power users, normal users and Telnic subdomain .tel registrars and admit that the future of .tel lies with the Telnames single-page format.

2. Invite the Telnic .tel registrars to join the Telnames single-page format by:
- Letting them sell .tels with the Telnames format
- Telnames handling the CTH (with their excellent Control Panel) for the registrars.

3. Do a special deal (for a limited time) that enables Telnic .tel registrars to offer their existing subdomain .tel customers the chance to switch at low or no cost to the Telnames format, whilst still staying at their existing registrar.

4. Produce the promised but never delivered "Tel Global Directory".

5. Open up the Telnames API to software developers.

6. Do whatever it takes to persuade the world's largest domain registrar, GoDaddy, to sell the .tel extension.

I agree that Telnic does everything to shake off old customers, but I think the conclusion is wrong.
As we all know there are 2 priorities:
  • Delivering one template that brings benefit to customers (combination of the Telnames and Telnic template with folders)
  • Delivering the "Tel Global Directory"

But this can happen only with a radical change of mind at Telnic and by including all customers (especially Telnic's current and future customers). The number of customers at Telnames is a joke.
