Could live DNS data create a new internet?

kprobe wrote:I've said this before, IMO there is no need for a TEL directory for the general public. Search engines index TEL fine for now. If Google etc could start using live DNS data that would even be better. What would be needed is a global clearinghouse of real-time information to give to online directories as subscribers to a service. That is what should be developed, however without critical mass premature at the moment.

How important data stored in the DNS can be and what could be the consequences if adopted?
- Search engines / directories would display data always up-to-date without the need for reindexing the known but outdated website data.
- The evaluation of relevant data would be much easier. Not the website with the best SEO performance / manipulation would appear first, but the search result with the highest similarity with the search.
- Spammers and non-relevant data can be sorted out easily (by the search engine provider or by the user).
- Google's traditional search could get a serious competitor which doesn't only copy Google (like Bing), but is based on new innovations.
- The first global phone book would be conceivable.

And the service would tell subscribers when a tel site was dropped, cleaning up out-of-date data would be a breeze. One big problem all online directories have is keeping up with businesses that go out of business.

...specially a hard task IRL nowadays on one hand for incumbant directories then !

and tomorrow even more difficult  in digital worlds of new tld/domain names (after flood of new tlds and subsequent price war to gain any market share) , triggering red oceans of massive new dn portfolios empty of any usefull content polluting SEO and search engines, but waiting just in case some enduser would see some value one day for a specific domain.newtld  while such  possibly self spiralling to zero value over time due to absence of reasonnable ratio between need and multiplicity of offers competing for globally same positionning ... ;+)

Finally easier then , for us all to keep things simple simpler, and then continue to focus on TEL story rewinding and re-telling ?

Do we really need a clearinghouse?
The data are accessible in the DNS for everyone already now.
Directories and search engines only need to make queries of the existing data.

yes.
even with the very good data present in telnames.tel's
there are already domains that have dropped that are telnames.tel's

so, this data is now out-of-date (1 year old only)
as its dns based, it would go dead pretty much instantly, but the collating system needs to flush it too

DNS data could get distributed actively (by Telnic or a new clearinghouse) or DNS data could get updated in the moment when a search on any other site is performed. I think the original idea of .tel was that every subscriber of DNS data will perform a new update in the moment when the user requests the data.
Of course this would delegate the burden to Telnic's partners, but it wouldn't require an additional component. No matter how the final solution is built, it would require high effort: installing a clearinghouse or installing high-performance interfaces (plus more and bigger DNS servers) to ensure a tolerable response time.

Directories and Search Engines would currently need to develop their own coding to access the .tel DNS Data.

Why on earth would they bother doing that for an extension that has constantly declining total registrations and just over 10K registrations in the ONLY form of .tel now actively marketed ?
