Who will acquire Telnic ?

This publicly available information has a couple of key figures worth noting when trying to work out what is going to happen to the investment in time and money that has been made by you in the last 4+ years.

Net Assets (30 June 2012) = 6,462,798 GBP

Net Profit (30 June 2012) = -2,331,014 GBP i.e. another year of losses.

With the dramatic and continuing decline in total registrations it's patently clear that THE .TEL OPERATION AS CURRENTLY CONFIGURED IS NOT CAPABLE OF MAKING A PROFIT !

Of course when you start off with $35,000,000 of shareholders money it takes quite a while to use all that up - 2016 looks likely to be the date, or maybe Q3/Q4 of 2015 ?

IMO Telnic Ltd. need to sell up to a more capitalised organisation, but if none of the major players are interested then http://www.Afilias.info looks like a good bet.

Of course we could find the shareholders come up with more funds in 2015/2016 and the situation continues as at present - I do hope not though !
My best bet as stated above is http://www.Afilias.info, with an outside chance of more investment from existing shareholders or a management buyout.

The new owner only has to change this and can make profit very fast:

Unfortunately it's not going to be that simple from now on !

So many of us posting on the Telnic Forum (I've now been banned) implored Telnic/Telnames to get their development and marketing act together BEFORE the new gTLDs started taking up all the press coverage and attracting potential registrants attention.

They didn't - and even though Telnames .tels are now being actively marketed (Telnic subdomain .tels appear to have been abandoned as far as active marketing goes) it is beginning to look like it could be (I hope I'm wrong) TOO LITTLE, TOO LATE !

Here's a Sedo page on the new gTLDs - now that it's all about these new gTLDs it means .tel is simply not attracting any significant trade or press interest on the necessary global scale.

Not sure where we go from here - a buyout of Telnic/Telnames by a major player would be very nice - but is anyone interested ?

TiME WILL .TEL - but how much is left ?

If I had a crush on Telnic, I would wait until the registration numbers are as low as possible to buy Telnic as cheap as possible.

If Telnic would be bought by the former employees, it would be a disaster. Some capable experts are needed.

Are there not some clever phone companies with a vision around? An investment in Tel would be the cheapest before any development takes place.

According to posts made by the Chief Technology Officer of both Telnic and Telnames - Henri Asseily - CRITICAL MASS of .tel registrations is necessary BEFORE Telnic could successfully generate interest at Telcos in modifying their systems to use the DATA IN THE DNS for services such as Dial-By-Name etc.

I do agree with Henri on this.

The other factor that Telcos would consider is how offering Name Dialing would impact on their current profitability - just because something is technically possible (with mods to their systems) doesn't mean it will generate more profit for the Telco !
