A subtle change at Kash.tel !

Post by mikeseaton on Wed 17 Jul 2013, 7:20 am

I thought I noticed something different at http://Kash.tel - the personal .tel of Khashayar Mahdavi - the CEO of both Telnic Ltd. and Telnames Ltd.

Having checked how the page looked before it's last archived change on 2 June 2013 - see http://web.archive.org/web/20130602061747/http://kash.tel/ - it's now clear what the change is !

Kash has changed his chosen job title on 2 June 2013 from CEO, Telnic Limited to CEO, Telnames Limited.

Could this be in preparation for a sell-off of Telnic the Registry whilst still retaining Telnames the "Registrar" (technically a Reseller) ?

I do hope so !

Nice hunch, but surely not enough facts to conclude anything. Maybe "Mr. Cash" only logged in at his control panel and made an update without any further thoughts.

Tim - don't spoil my day - I need some hope as do we all in the .tel project !

I'm sorry, but only one person can improve the situation by making the right decisions: "Mr. Cash" himself!

Still waiting for this sell-off to happen - surely something has got to give before the last of the $35,000,000 shareholder investment finally runs out ?

I do think that selling-off the Telnic Registry would make many people in the .tel project happy (or less miserable !):

- The Telnic Shareholders (at least they'd get some of their money back).

- The Telnic Directors (their main interest seems to be Telnames these days).

- The Telnic Registrars (it couldn't be worse than the current situation where they're not allowed to sell the only version of .tel being actively marketed i.e. Telnames).

- The .Tel Developers (a new owner of the Telnic Registry couldn't do less for Telnic subdomain .tels than currently happens - unless they dropped them !).

- The .Tel Domainers (who want the .tel name spread far and wide which a new owner of the Telnic Registry would no doubt aim to do).

Telnames is a total failure as well. The pace of upgrades is so slow (largely non-existent) and the single page is beyond ridiculous because it limits the amount of content and the natural flow of content. There is obviously no demand for just contact details which are included already on other mobile and non-mobile platforms.

It would be very easy to program content areas for the .tel templates (both at Telnic and Telnames), but Telnic still believes in their old concept.

Great idea to solve this (probably the biggest) problem for .tel domains: http://www.telarea.com/t23-deeper-content-for-tel

A question for forum members:

Given the choice, would you be CEO of Telnic or Telnames ?

I'm not sure if I understand the question.
What's the difference?
Both companies are one (with two names).
And both don't perform well.

@Toptel

What I was getting at is that Kash has chosen, by the change in job title he made mentioned in my original post, to align himself with Telnames whose single-page product is so totally at odds with the Telnic subdomain .tel as originally introduced and used by many forum members.

Telnames as we know has carried out such marketing as TV ads, Radio interviews, Affiliate program, Business shows, regular Blogging, etc - whilst Telnic has (since Telnames was launched) had the benefit of none of these.

So the CEO of both Telnic Ltd and Telnames Ltd has obviously made his decision as to which horse to back - what would you do if you were in his shoes, and why ?

Just curious !

IMHO the manager of one or two companies should focus more on their customers and less about his own profit.
In that case the question for a position would be secondary.
But to answer the question: after Telnic and Telnames got such a bad public image, I don't want to be the CEO of both.

They need to unify these two disasters making everything available on the one control panel. Then they need to massively increase the control panel content options. Ergo a product without hosting fees that can compete with other gTLDs.
