Happy 5th anniversary, Telnic!

Post by di7 on Mon 24 Mar 2014, 12:45 am

Today 5 years ago .tel was launched. Congratulations for 5 years of strongly declining interest, workload and activity by all participants!
It'll be very interesting to see if .tel will be able to survive another 5 years with this strong lack in transparency, usability and innovation.

Happy 5th anniversary, Telnic!

The title of this thread should really be Happy 15th anniversary, Telnic!

Telnic Ltd. were incorporated as a company on 29 April 1998 - a few weeks short of 15 years ago - see http://companycheck.co.uk/company/03555437

I've too much work to do today to say any more in this post - none of this work is connected with my remaining .tel domains which are effectively "on ice" until Telnic run out of what's left of the $35,000,000 investment and get bought out or replaced.

Everyone who owns one or more .tel domains has to think about ways how he can finance it, because owning a .tel causes only costs.
Unfortunately there is no money in it.
If someone wants to earn money with a domain, he has to buy one different than .tel.

Note to myself: Don't do mental calculations Mike and post when you are thinking about other things (far more important than .tel !)

For 15 years it should read 16 years of course, that's how long ago (less a few weeks) that Telnic set out on the .tel path !

If something doesn't work out in business after all that time then maybe you're barking up the wrong tree ?

Big Net Loss reported today of 820 .Tels - 82 registrations and 902 drops.

This gives a Total Registration figure reported at http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx of just 145,198
- a far cry from the glory(?) days of 2011 when registrations peaked at 333,891 as shown by http://www.hosterstats.com/DomainNameCounts2011.php

How much more evidence does Telnic need before they realise they have a SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THEIR CURRENT BUSINESS MODEL ?

No problem; every day between 0 and 6 .tel domains get registered at Telnames. Better than nothing!

.BERLIN is catching up newgTLD leader .GURU at a rate of knots - this bodes well for .LONDON when it is launched.

As for .TEL, a 657 Net Loss is reported for yesterday - it seems to be steadily drifting into oblivion !

Full details of the daily registration totals are at http://registrarstats.com/TLDDomainCounts.aspx

This year's renewal period has just begun this week. Many more drops will follow the next two months.
Falling registrations and 5 years of eventlessness will lead to more falling registrations.

Telnic must know this like all of us. This means that Telnic has already accepted a low level of customer numbers for the next years!

And at this time when theres lots of talk about domain names with the new gtlds around and comparisons makes things worst still..this was a good time to do something not nothing.

but we are talking about maybe the worst they have ever been.

I think its plan to se they have give up not on dot Tel but themselves.

i knew this would happen this time round as soon people started taken there auto renewal off.
