Further staff changes at Telnic

Post by Toptel on Wed 06 Aug 2014, 1:08 pm

Here the newest information after Henri and Justin have left Telnic!

It seems as if Ian Bowen-Morris is working only part time for Telnic from now on:
https://twitter.com/ianbm
In addition he is principal of an independent marketing and business development practice:

IMO the loss of this employee would be a serious blow to Telnic !

I'm not saying it's going to happen - but those with a good dose of experience know that when a company is failing the staff who manage to get out before the inevitable end stand a much better chance of getting a new job - no potential employer wants to recruit someone just because they were still onboard when the ship finally sunk !

The Captain of course has a moral obligation to go down with the ship !

The question must be allowed what the responsibility of the Director of Customer Services is when soon no customers will be left:

I note that Ian Bowen-Morris has now dropped Telnic/Telnames work phone number from his .tel - just using a Mobile number instead.

The offices at 37 Percy Street must be gettng a bit empty these days !

PS. Love the address at http://ianbm.tel - Telnames Global HQ !

One further observation - has Nicky (the PR person) left ?

The Telnames home page at http://www.telnames.com has a link called "Telnames Blog Latest Post" which takes you to http://blog.telnames.com/four-ways-to-make-your-website-look-great-on-a-smartphone - yet no further blog entries have been posted by Nicky since February 6, 2014 !

PLEASE CAN TELNIC/TELNAMES FACE UP TO REALITY AND SELL/GIVEAWAY/HANDOVER THE .TEL PROJECT TO A DYNAMIC PRO-ACTIVE WELL-FUNDED SOFTWARE COMPANY NOW !

THANKS - AS DEL BOY WOULD SAY "YOU KNOW IT MAKES SENSE !"

http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. I wonder how recent leavers Henri Asseily and Justin Hayward are getting on outside the Percy Street bubble ?

If you do a search on Google for indexed Telnames you get 6,470 results - click https://www.google.com/search?q=%22powered+by+telnames.com%22

http://henri.tel is at P8

http://theluckparticle.tel - Justin's baby - is at P4

So it seems the way to a high first page ranking of your .tel on Google is to distance yourself from involvement in the .tel project !

The only .tel domains with a ranking on page one are from current or former Telnic / Telnames employees (or directly related to Telnic / Telnames).

It gives the impression that .tel is only the phone book for the Telnic corporation.

That's not a big accomplishment 5 1/2 years after launch!

Unfortunately Telnic wasn't able to draw attention of end users for its product.
For this it would have been necessary that Telnic kept the product up-to-date.

mikeseaton wrote:If you do a search on Google for indexed Telnames you get 6,470 results - click https://www.google.com/search?q=%22powered+by+telnames.com%22

I was wrong to use the above search to get the total number of indexed (by Google) Telnames - I omitted to add the command "site:.tel" so the figure of 6,470 includes non-.tel pages that also have the phrase "powered by telnames.com".

Let's do it again - https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3A.tel+%22powered+by+telnames.com%22 - and we get the correct figure of just 5,200 Telnames single-page .tels indexed by Google.

THATS RIGHT - AFTER 5+ YEARS AND NEARLY $35,000,000 SPENT THERE ARE A MEASLY 5,200 INDEXED PAGES BY GOOGLE OF THE ONLY FORM OF .TEL NOW BEING MARKETED I.E. TELNAMES !

AND TELNIC/TELNAMES STILL ACTS AS IF THERE IS NO PROBLEM !

WHAT MORE PROOF IS NEEDED ?

They are not spent, rather they are invested in the safe place. And one of the safest places is a pocket of one's trousers. As we can see on the picture bellow, a quite good part of those $35 000 000 went as a salary for CEO men.

And now, then the ship is sinking, the rats desert out of it.

How is this possible? Are the costs really only salaries?
Estimation

Revenues:
250,000 .tel x $8 = $2,000,000

Expenses:
London office rent = $100,000
Server costs = $10,000
Neustar fees = $100,000
CEO salary = $1,000,000
About 5 directors' salaries = $500,000
About 10 employees' salaries = $700,000
Litigation = $200,000
Black hole = $4,390,000
Total = $7,000,000

Annual Loss:
Revenues ./. expenses = $5,000,000

@TelBlogger - there could be a good reason for this !

Perhaps Mark Kolb has grown tired of providing FREE support for FREE tools that he must have spent a massive amount of time (which is money in business) developing for what is now a virtually non-existent market ?

Some time ago - on the Telnic forum before they decided to start banning forum members who didn't follow the party line - I suggested to Telnic it was essential if they wanted to protect Telnic subdomain .tels that they made Mark an "offer he couldn't refuse" for his excellent  .tel tools, incorporated them into the Telnic Control Panel, and retained Mark as a consultant to advise on future .tel development.

Telnic ignored - as usual - my sensible pragmatic suggestion !

It was as if Telnic had no desire or concern to safeguard Telnic subdomain .tels in the eventuality that Mark's Telmasters operation decided one day that "enough is enough" with regard to the charitable work they were doing for .tel !

Telnic just didn't seem to care and/or had never come across the business concept of undertaking a SWOT analysis - Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats.

Still who was I to make such a sensible suggestion, TELNIC ALWAYS KNOW BEST, DON'T THEY ?

@TelBlogger - Did you get your requirements sorted out with Mark Kolb - is he still offering FREE support for his (excellent) FREE Telmasters .tel tools ?

Bit surprised if Mark can still keep going on FREE - sooner or later you have to get PAID to stay in business for the long term !

I do wish Telnic would make Mark an offer he couldn't refuse but that would only make commercial sense if subdomain .tels had a future in Telnic's plans.

All recent actions by Telnic and their subsidiary company Telnames would indicate that this is not the case !

@MikeSeaton

Mark has a range of tools many of which are not free. Additionally he charges (as he should) for custom work assignments related to .tels.

Wishing Telnic would make sensible commercial decisions is like wishing a fish could ride a bicycle.

That depends on three factors:

  1. How high is his bank account balance?
  2. How long will he be willing to waste his money on .tel?
  3. When will he realize that he won't get his in .tel invested money back?

Costs of keeping a working website consists of:
1. cost of domain (10 $/year);
2. cost of hosting (5 - 30 $/year)
--------------------------------
Total: from 15 to 45 $/year.

It is not a big money.
