For tel believer and investor, NTTM's Strategic Partnerships plus this looming possibility of nextgen SIM's ability to call names based on this callmyname's built-in technology, is a nuance to consider.

How they compare to each other financially wise, from end user POV?

Currently,
.tel costs around 10$ year.
Callmyname registration 'early bird' fee is a whopping $360 for a year (based on 1,276NIS price tag on info page of icnr in israel)

here's international version of this callymyname/dialmyname registration center. https://www.trycmn.com/

and israeli pilot http://www.dialmyname.co.il/
here's Cellcom's page promoting this service http://www.cellcom.co.il/shop/advanc...s/default.aspx
Note that Cellcom has over 3.4M subscribers in israel, probably the largest mobile operator.

we speak about "gaining critical mass" for tel to be implemented.
Meanwhile, still in infancy, callmyname sign strategic partnership contracts.

An extract from their "Our Technology" page:

"NTTM has developed a universal SIM based dialer which enables dialing meaningful names. The technology is intended for handsets that up until now supported digit-dialing only. This solution, which may be used in every GSM network and on every SIM profile regardless of the manufacturer, relies on the company's patent pending, next generation dialing technology.

The SIM-centric approach, adopted by NTTM, circumvents the network-handset barrier to adoption of advanced dialing solutions. The technology behind the dialer and NTTM's cooperation with its strategic partners, ensure that the dialer will soon be ubiquitously found on GSM SIM cards worldwide."

Of course Phase 2 when it comes will blow them out of the water, as long as NTTM haven't established by then a "first mover" advantage to the dial-by-name idea and offer it at a price that users find acceptable in a format that can be easily delivered.

To quote Telrific from another post, "only time will .tel".

Telnic, with this in mind, shouldn't "we" be moving into phase 2 quicker?

I would love to know what Telnic's ETA for Phase 2 is - as I'm sure many other .tel stakeholders would - perhaps this would help reduce the drops and increase the new registrations.

I'm "keeping the faith" - it's just that many others appear not to be aware of the massive potential that Phase 2 has for changing the way the world communicates.

Perhaps once a decade something comes along that really changes everything - but let's not wait too long to launch Phase 2 and be overtaken by events!

Mark, Mike,

As mentioned by Henri in his original post on this, there first needs to be a critical mass of .tels being used. Rest assured that we are working every day to get to this point. .tel owners can also play a huge part in this by making sure that all .tels that they own are:

- well populated
- maintained and updated
- promoted where possible

Today has been the first day that in google, site:.tel = 1.000.000 ,but site:.net = 3.700.000.000
site:.com::25.000.000.000[/size]

Am I missing something or doesn't "Phase 2" need mobile phone companies and email client developers and to integrate .tel lookup, as Henri put it. If so, how can we expect Telnic to give a time for when this will happen?

Aled,

Thanks for your response re the Phase 2 activation point.

There is one thing that Telnic could do now that would help .tel owners with several domains to keep their .tels "well populated" and "maintained and updated".

That is to allow any add/update/delete (eg. template design, contact details, system settings etc.) to be applied to ALL or ANY domains in the CTH account.

This would have 2 benefits:

1. Save .tel owners a huge amount of time currently spent pulling up each domain and often making the same add/update/delete time and time again.

2. Reduce the load on Telnic's servers, since there is obviously less load if a change is specified once and applied to "n" domains rather than pulling up domain after domain to manually make the change.

This is something that Mark, myself and quite a few others have requested at various times over recent months. Is it possible that Telnic could introduce this?

Lastly, let me add that we all appreciate the efforts that Telnic are making and the fact that you respond to forum posts, but when developments like NTTM start coming along it's natural we get a bit nervous about .tel getting left behind in market penetration of new dial-by-name services
- history is littered with inferior products that end dominating a marketplace through having "first mover advantage".

I cannot stress enough that populating, updating and maintaining our .tel our biggest burden. I really hope Telinic can something to make it more efficient.

Thanks to all.

One of the things we've asked for is default records (logos, image ads, etc plus same ads for mobile and desktop ) for all subdomains as an option. Constantly pushing out the same NAPTR records for 100's of subdomains in same domain is a waste of time and resources.

Telnic what is the status on those, specifically have they been discussed internally yet and when will they be on the roadmap?

And please, one place where we´ll can put the link to the map of our directory. But only one place with "map" that we can see in all subdomains, like right up: "gestion, private data, map"

We need to joint the map to the dottel, and the dottel to the map.
