Problems at dottel.net

Post by Alex on Sun 01 Jul 2012, 4:01 am

At dottel.net you can see the daily registrations of .tel domains.

There are two problems with this website:

1.) The last update for daily registrations is 2 days old. The last 2 days haven't been imported.

2.) The date for registered domains is always wrong.
The announcement is: "XX dot tel's were registered on XX.XX.XXXX!"
But the date is always the current date instead of yesterday when the .tel domains have been registered.
This is a general mistake!

If you want to follow up on the daily registrations you can use this tool instead.

To get access to the data, you have to register and login first.

If you compare the data of this resource with dottel.net, you will notice the published .tel domains have always differences.

In this case the data at dottel.net seems to be more accurate.

Re: Problems at dottel.net

Another general problem with the daily statistics is the complete number of registered .tel domains is not known exactly.

A new registered .tel domain doesn't show up in the daily reports when it was registered, but when the TelZone for the TelHosting has been created, i. e. when the .tel domain has been published.

When technical problems occur these specific .tel domains don't count for these registration numbers. Also in the early days of .tel not all registrars have published the registered domains. Sometimes they catch up with it and publish them in bulk.

This issue will be corrected today.

Problem 2 probably won't be fixed soon.

dottel.net is back to normal: without problem 1 (and with the very small mistake number 2)!

Dottel.net, Could you repair your system to make the following message disappear?

Warning: date() [function.date]: It is not safe to rely on the system's timezone settings. You are *required* to use the date.timezone setting or the date_default_timezone_set() function. In case you used any of those methods and you are still getting this warning, you most likely misspelled the timezone identifier. We selected 'Europe/London' for 'BST/1.0/DST' instead in /home/keyboard/public_html/dottel.net/dailyreg.php on line 63

After repair this service shows us dropped domains with two days delay in comparison with teldomans_co service.

Do anybody knows fully independent service, which shows dropping domains without artificial delay and without deleting from the list the dropping premium domains?

No, the third known service is down: http://www.teltalk.org/t1127-dottelnet-has-closed-buyatelcom
But you can buy the premium drops for $129 each, as example: http://kim.tel
That's a very fair price!

Tel, thanks for links!

I now want to drop about of 30 of my TELs and am not sure which ones to drop. It is not an easy choice because they all are premium. Instead of these 30 my TELs I would like to pick up two or three another TELs, also premium.

To have less TELs but to have ones about which I know what to do with them, is my current task. In this way I hope to to have TELs which I need and to spend less money in few coming years on renewals.

It really is the most interesting extension from the all. A good subject for psychologist to write a scientific work.

It will be even much funnier, if the success of this extension will never come. Then wish to earn millions will result of a loss of real millions of money. I added few more rows at the bottom of my table of expenses, which will be necessary for renewal during few more years of stagnation, which could await us. Hope, that nobody from TEL-fans have or plan to have more then 10,000 TELs.
By thе wаy, if wе will survivе till thаt yеаr 2018, thаt yеt will not mеаn thаt wе аlrеаdy аrе riсh. It оnly will mеаn thаt wе соuld hаvе а сhаnсе thаt TЕL will bесоmе mоrе pоpulаr thаn nоw.

1 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 60

10 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 600

20 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 1,200

30 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 1,800

40 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 2,400

50 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 3,000

100 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 6,000

200 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 12,000

300 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 18,000

400 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 24,000

500 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 30,000

1,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 60,000

2,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 120,000

3,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 180,000

5,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 300,000

7,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 420,000

10,000 TEL x $10 x 6 years = $ 600,000

The dottel.net domain name doesn't expire until 27 March 2014, so it looks like an unpaid hosting bill at host company uk2.net.

It's hard to believe that "Keyboard Brains" would just abandon all his extensive .tel work, so I imagine it's just a temporary situation until the uk2.net bill is paid.

Another One Bites The Dust ?

Post by mikeseaton on Sat 04 Jan 2014, 5:26 pm

Just checked http://www.dottel.net and it still doesn't resolve to the dottel.net site - this is a great shame as there are numerous links from TelTalk and other places to the home page which contains the latest Daily .Tel Total Registration figures (including the one for Total Telnames .tels).

I've just looked at a couple of "Keyboard Brains" other sites - http://OxfordStreet.tel now contains several non-displaying images and http://www.dottelads.com is now a parking page where the owner is hidden by a privacy registration.

What is going on - surely not another major investor/developer who's given up on the .tel project ?

I hope it's just an unpaid bill and not a case of Another One Bites The Dust !

"Keyboard Brains" and all of us have to reconsider if it's worth to spend further hosting fees on a dying TLD, especially since the income is probably about $0 per year.

4444 wrote:"Keyboard Brains" and all of us have to reconsider if it's worth to spend further hosting fees on a dying TLD...

@4444 - Very True !

It's looking like investor/developer http://www.dottel.net has finally given up !

A year or so ago I started building the infrastructure to develop the missing Tel Global Directory - I have substantial experience in this sort of development having personally developed search engines http://www.BoatSearchEngine.com and http://www.Net-Link.com

But having been BANNED from Telnic's forum, REJECTED by Telnames Affiliate Program and BLOCKED from following both Telnic & Telnames Twitter accounts, I decided I had no choice but to CANCEL ALL FUTURE .TEL SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT - a move that turned out ot be very wise in view of the rapidly dwindling total registration figures and interest in the .tel project.

I still believe in the Phase 2 concept of .tel - using the DNS data to provide fully automated software services - but it has become patently obvious Telnic/Telnames haven't a snowball in hell's chance of being the organisation that will actually deliver this to the masses !

So it's a case of waiting for the last of the $35,000,000 shareholder investment to run out at Telnic/Telnames and keeping fingers crossed that a more dynamic pro-active organisation takes over that understands the necessity of building and encouraging an "ecosystem" around an internet idea.

Ask Apple and Microsoft - they understood this fact years ago !

That's all we can do! Success can't come with the current (incapable) sponsoring organization.

Now that "Keyboard Brains" appears to have thrown in the towel with http://dottel.net is Mark Kolb of Telmasters the only .tel developer left ?

What would happen if he woke up one day and "smelt the coffee" ?

I fear the number of .tel developers left is THE SHORTEST LIST IN THE WORLD ?

Can anyone else come up with other "active" .tel developers ?
