Prevent intrusion into your .tel e-mail account with the Google Authenticator

Post by Alex on Wed 01 Aug 2012, 9:48 am

Google Authenticator is for users enrolled in 2-step verification. 2-step verification is now available for all Gmail users, and all Google Apps users, once your domain administrator has enabled the feature in their Google Apps control panel.

2-step verification adds an extra layer of security for your Google Apps account by requiring you to enter a verification code in addition to your username and password, when signing in to your account. See 2-step verification for more information.

Google Authenticator is a mobile application that allows you to generate 2-step verification codes on your smartphone without a network connection. We recommend users with smartphones to use Google Authenticator to generate verification codes instantly to sign in to their Google Apps accounts.

What devices does Google Authenticator work on?

  • Android version 2.1 or later
  • BlackBerry OS 4.5 - 6.0
  • iPhone iOS 3.1.3 or later

Just download the Google Authenticator from your app store for free!
If you do not have one of these devices, you can opt in to receive your 2-step verification code via text message or phone call.

If you use your .tel domain with Google Mail, you can protect the access to your e-mail account with an address in the format name@domain.tel! Just administrate your .tel domain here.
