Telnames recruits...

Post by mikeseaton on Sun 12 Aug 2012, 11:44 am

...Darren Eaton (http://deaton.tel) to the post of

"Partnerships & Business Development - Telnames"

Not sure when Darren joined Telnames, but I would imagine it was fairly recently as his page at http://uk.linkedin.com/pub/darren-eaton/9/792/78 has not yet been updated.

Interesting to note he has previously worked at Yell.com, where Ian Bowen-Morris (http://IanBM.tel) was Head of Marketing.

Look forward to hearing more about the Telnames Partnership opportunities soon !

Great to read Telnames is moving on. And they really could need a guy responsible for partnerships and business development.
But what Justin Hayward is doing meanwhile?

He's still around - see http://Justin.tel - as "Business Development and Communications Director for Telnic".

But why he has become completely quiet? The whole year 2012 nothing was to hear from him! How it is possible he stopped all activity while he is still employed for Telnic?
Is he on paternity leave?

No, he is still present, e. g. here.

He is just not doing active marketing for Telnic anymore.

But why? Should that not be the main activity?

Not in the eyes of Telnic, because they believe .tel will become successful without a lot of marketing.

Well that would be an internet revolution - achieving a worldwide presence of a new internet product without really marketing it !

Even if Telnic initially believed this was possible, you would have thought that the reality of falling registrations after 3.5 years would make them realise that they were wrong to believe that "success without real marketing" was a feasible idea !

TEL domain will soon not be considered "new product" but YET ANOTHER STUPID CMS WEBSITE.

As About.Me is maybe one year older then TEL domain, and it has a truly global presence of more than million pages in Google. In comparison to the number of real users, About.me is probably 10 times larger or more. By the way, About.me has excellent Background features and for free.

TEL is a website, with CMS. It does not give much, it is contact page or contact pages. Some use TEL to create illegal directories, like me and other people, as such directories are not in accordance with Terms. And some use TEL to register their brand or to otherwise attempt to sell a TEL domain to someone they know.

Overall result is poor. And it is not only due to management, but due to the general advancement of the technology.

Why would anyone need DNS to search for the phone number?

I was telling it back in 2009, and I am telling it now.
