How do I host a conventional website on my .tel domain?

Post by TelDel on Thu 30 Mar 2017, 12:01 pm

Hello,

I have registered my .tel domain with 123-reg.co.uk. Ever since March 13 we should be able to host our own personal site on the .tel domain. However, I cannot find the option to edit my DNS on my .tel domain, on 123-reg or anywhere else. I can only find the standard telhosting option, which I do not want. Telnic's customer service (Cservice@telnic.org) has not responded to my emails at all too.

I found a comment by Mike Seaton that tells as much on another site too, so I was hoping someone here is able to help me out.

So in short: How do I host my own website (with subdomain option) similar to any other traditional website on my .tel domain?

Thanks for any help!

@TelDel - I've never used 123-reg.co.uk for .TEL domains - I use Name.com like many other forum members.

But what you need to do is find the link on your domain control page at 123-reg.co.uk that enables you to specify the Nameservers - then set this to the 123-reg.co.uk default nameservers.

Then find the link on your domain control page at 123-reg.co.uk which enables you to specify the IP Addresses for the DNS Records so you can set these up for www.mydomain.tel, mydomain.tel, sub1.mydomain.tel, sub2.mydomain.tel, etc.

If you find it's too much of a problem - or 123-reg.co.uk  have not yet allowed "Normal DNS"  for .TEL domains - then just transfer your .TEL domain to Name.com by clicking https://www.name.com/domain-transfer - they definitely have got their act together over this opening up of the .TEL gTLD !

Hope this helps, http://MikeSeaton.tel

All registrars can open the name servers for their .tel customers, now.
The right thing to do is to ask when 123-reg will lift the usage restrictions:
