Could Telnames be planning on expanding its business model ?

Post by mikeseaton on Fri 12 May 2017, 9:49 pm

Telnames has now replaced Telnic !

Have a look at page https://www.do.tel/about-telnames on the new Telnames web site.

This is what it says:

Telnames is a limited liability company incorporated in England with registration number 3555437, VAT number GB 766 4559 84. The company has its head office at 16 Charles II Street, London, SW1Y 4NW, United Kingdom.

Telnames is the Registry Operator and Sponsoring Organization for the .tel domain name, a sponsored Top Level Domain awarded on May 30th 2006 by ICANN, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers. Some of our services are analysis, evaluation, creation and brand establishment of domain names.

Telnames contract with ICANN is publicly available.

For a list of official policies and charters governing the use of .tel domains, please refer to the Policies page.

Sounds a lot more - and note the word "some" - than just the old Telnic .TEL Registry function !

Is Kash planning expansion into other areas BEFORE he has even got the .TEL gTLD marketed properly ?

I do hope not !

He's got to do what he's got to do until he figures out how to "fix" tels issues, aka to make it work so people want to use it.
Other services will bring in more monies and keep dot tel running which is a good thing for those of us still using it, other services will bring in more monies to market dot tel.

And also why should he not offer the tel hosting for other domains? don't always have to be about tel but it can be the foundation of a wider service that supports more of these new domains.

I don't know what are Telnames plans. But I think the should expand the services for domain names to the multiple subdirectories model (It doesn't matter how much it cost!), and offer it for ANY TLD, especially for .com. That would be very interesting, and also a new life for .tel domains/tld.

Telnic was a bad and not clear experience, definitely, I have to say.

Could you imagine? Telnames templates + multiple subdomains model would be fabulous for .NET and other good TLDS.

Please LISTEN US; TElNames!!

It is a nice idea. I would like this would happen.

But may be such things are in competence of ICANN not Telnic/Telnames LTD?

As for Telnic/Telnames, I think that it is without doubt that they will do nothing - not because they are lazy and incompetent but simply because that nobody will need TEL-domains anymore if customers could do sites with subdomains on DNS in extensions COMs, NETs or ORG.
