43 per cent of .tel profile page views resulted in phone calls to local merchant directory advertisers

London, United Kingdom, September 21 2012 – Telnames (www.telnames.com ), a leader in mobile-ready website creation and online contact pages for local businesses, today announces that it has completed a major call measurement study which demonstrated that 43 per cent of .tel profile page views resulted in phone calls to directory and local search advertisers.

The 12-week study examined the phone calls that were generated from a representative sample of over 1000 .tel business profiles for local businesses in Europe and North America. All merchants were either customers of or listed businesses in the leading yellow pages brands in the US, Canada and Europe. For the study, the local merchants’ phone numbers were replaced with leading call measurement provider Telmetrics’ call tracking numbers, and the volume of calls and page views of the .tel profiles was measured. The study demonstrates the efficiency of .tels in connecting users with merchants by phone, which is the preferred contact for most advertisers in the yellow pages and local search sectors.

With online searches for local businesses increasingly shifting to mobile devices, Telnames enables merchants and directory publishers to capitalise on this trend and easily create mobile-ready .tel business profiles that include all the essential contact information that users on the go need – displayed perfectly on smartphones. That is an incredible number. That means for Telnames almost every second website visitor calls the website owner!
