this is not fair

Post by Mad Max on Wed 26 Sep 2012, 4:36 pm

back in 2009 i bought 40 tel domains in the hope i will be able to use them one day
3 years later the product has been developed, but i am still not able to use it, because i am forced to transfer my tel domains to telnames
but then i will lose the ability to use my tel domains as directory
i still own my 40 tel domains from that time, but probably i have to wait 3 more years until i can use them
that was not expected at all

You aren't forced to transfer your domains to Telnames. Use the standard templates of Telnic. And if the "product" is valid, people will come to visit your sites.

My site ligury.tel , despite the "old" template, receives several daily visits.

Does it pay off?
Your side is nicely installed by you, but the design really could need improvement by Telnic.

this is not fair

Life sometimes isn't - but in business to survive you need to be pragmatic - and IMO the only game in town now for .tel is the http://YourBusiness.tel single-page template by http://www.Telnames.com

So unless Telnames can be persuaded to release this template to the other Telnic registrars then to get the benefit of how "Joe Public" will expect a .tel domain to be you need to transfer your domain to Telnames.

It would be good PR to Telnic's loyal forum followers if Telnames could be persuaded to offer say a bulk discount or some similar financial incentive to transfer to them.

Remember that Telnames discount codes are also published on this forum - I can't remember the link but hopefully TelTalk will chip in here with it ?

2009 Telnic thought they can sell a website without anything on it

2012 they understood this isn’t possible and now they try earning the whole benefit and not sharing the registration fees with the registrars

Telnic really knows how to make one mistake after another

But don’t worry; they will learn again their customers are not that stupid

After they have realized that, they will instruct a developer to transfer the Telnames template to Telnic; that should be possible with a few hours of work onyl

How can we predict what Telnic's or Telnames' strategy will be?
It doesn’t matter as long we see such big improvements as in 2012.
For the first time the power of .tel is visible.
This is the start of a big change.
It will be only a question of time until Telnic will offer something on the same quality level like Telnames.

I don't work in this field. I made the site for hobby. For me, a thousand visits or a dozen of email in a year are very good.

I think if you want satisfactions and want earn money, you must buy some .com

Or maybe wait for the new domains released next year.

VEry nice work, Silvano! If everybody would develop the .tel like you, it would improve the image of this extension rapidly.

Thanks for the compliments.

I am proud of this my "son" although it would need a revision.

Now I'm working on liguria.tel, the Italian version of ligury.tel and I will use the up-to-date data for updating ligury.tel.

If I try a search of the term "Ligury" on Google, I find ligury.tel in second position after the corresponding .com and preceding the .it
(screenshot http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/837/liguryinchrome.jpg/ )

Not bad for a dying domain and for an old template :-)
