Telnames is doing the same mistake as Telnic before and is making only local marketing without global recognition.
It will take very long to fight against dropping registration numbers from Telnic.

What small radio station is this?
The last entry on their podcast is from 15 July 2012.
No chance to listen to the interview with Ian Bowen-Morris!

You took the words right out of my mouth !

We all make mistakes - the trick is to learn from them and not repeat them !

I heard it all, I noticed one small mind slip up near the end though I won't post what it was, but he covered it up well.. most people not involved wont notice it only we would know.

Most of the time was spent with Ian talking and the interviewer not saying much but a few questions, this was likely due in part to him finding what was said interesting enough to not interject.

Anyway I think it went great first time I've heard him talk, he should do more as he seems to know what hes doing, and that's good representation for their business.

Can you tell us more about the announced topics (challenges they have faced and future plans)?
Is it possible to find the interview on the internet?

When Telnic will learn that their marketing strategy isn't appropriate for success? Yesterday overall 2 (!) new domains have been registered at Telnames:
http://comparegoldprice.tel/
http://pestforcecornwall.tel/
My question: Had the radio interview a satisfying impact or was it only waste of time?

Will Telnic ever understand the concept of guerilla marketing?

The interview with Ian Bowen-Morris starts at minute 43.
He starts with his career, tells about the challenges at Yell.com, the product Telnames is offering, the differences of .tel to other domain extensions and the competition and differences compared to Yellow Pages.
He is especially very pleased to have cracked online self-service for small businesses and the long-tail of small businesses Telnames is attracting.
He continues about how Telnames attract new customers and future activities like entering all English speaking areas and the European market in 2013 and upcoming apps for interaction with Telnames.
He points out the market shift to mobiles and finishes with how easy it is to integrate customer videos into Telnames.
Nice job!

Nice strategy if this will work out fine:
They neglect all customers at Telnic and show how to make .tel profitable with Telnames in the hope the registrars will follow this example and create similar templates for their own customers.
This way Telnic can avoid any future software development for .tel and delegate the work to their partners instead.
This is the reason why we don't (and won't) see any activities at Telnic anymore.
The advantage of the final scenario for the customers would be a bigger diversity; the disadvantage would be a confusing market where every registrar offers a different template.
On the way to success the development for customers at Telnic stands still meanwhile.

Nice strategy
Indeed two crucial points and two big plus factors for Telnames.
Telnames is still unknown, but when Telnames start their marketing as seen with the first steps now, .tel could grow huge!
It will be very exciting to see how .tel will develop in 2013.

The much more confusing situation is now where every registrar offers any other template. And I personally do not believe that they will be enthusiastic to do this Telnic's job.

There is an old saying, which in English could sound something like this: "Who will rise the tail of the dog if he himself will not rise it?"

If Telnic itself is too lazy to do this his job, who else will do it then? I think that nobody. It is a very bad sign then people who should be businessmen lives in a world of fairy tales.
