Telnic turns all suggestions from their community down

Post by Rambo on Mon 15 Oct 2012, 7:07 am

What makes me mad is that Telnic is not even searching for an alternative technical solution in response to http://www.teltalk.org/t561-top-bottom-image-ads-a-request-to-increase
Thank you for your suggestion. As some have pointed out earlier in this conversation, there are a number of issues with this modification which we believe makes this change request unsatisfactory for the community at large and for the .tel platform. As this is an ad space, it will be blocked by certain browsers and settings, making it unsuitable for providing critical information to visitors. We do not believe that increasing usage of this space or the number of units per page will benefit the ability to re-sell space on .tel domains, will impact on the load time and weight of the .tel page as a whole and will not be a pleasing experience on a mobile device or other clients that support .tel domains. By using such space for phone and email addresses you are also weakening the consistency of the DNS storage structure with regards to how phone numbers and email addresses can be identified by any consumer other than the proxy.

Additionally, contacts as images aren't going to be indexed by Google/Bing etc so the change would also have a likely negative effect on the indexing of the .tel domains using such ads. Finally, with two divergent views on what the usage actually is for, we anticipate that it would quickly be filled up with content that would not be conducive to the vision of the .tel.

We are happy to consider investing in modifications to templates that will drive benefit for the community and a better experience for both visitors and potential users of the services you provide. However, in this instance, due to the above reasons, we do not see this as a modification that meets any of these requirements.
Many more suggestions have been made. They all stay unanswered!

In this situation an ICANN complaint against Telnic seems to be the only solution left!

OMG! How inflexible a company can be? Use something different than ad space!
Why it is possible to integrate five pictures at Telnames, but not at Telnic?

I agree the community seems to be very unsatisfied! Is my assumption right the look and feel from Telnames is reserved for VIP customers only?

I have made many suggestions for modifications that will drive benefit, but Telnic don't think about it at all (or perhaps don't even read it). I won't waste my time with this anymore!

Maybe we should all follow the example of Telnic: making a break for longer!

Honestly that would be the best!
Complaints bring all nothing.
I recommend waiting some time until all registrars offer an advanced solution as Telnames.

Assuming that Telnic is right with this evaluation, instead why it isn't possible to work on other enhancements to improve the user experience?
Telnic have shown they are capable of creating a valuable product with Telnames!
Why they don't do it with Telnic, too? (Sorry; I know that this question has been asked countless times before and have never been answered.)

Why they should?
They earn more money with a higher registration fee and without sharing this with other registrars!

Telnic have a wrong self-perception about them:
Who is using domains from Telnic successfully for their business?

When talking about Telnames it's a completely different story, because their domains look nice and they are used by serious businesses.

Telnic may even be right with the statement above, but this discussion about the number of pictures isn't important. Catching up with Telnames is!
The only option for Telnic to improve would be to provide a similar product like Telnames.

Yes, Telnic is right from the technical point of view.
The problem is Telnic is not used yet for other purposes than any other website service.
For the later use of Telnic for telecommunications they are right to secure the original concept.
I don't think Telnic is doing anything wrong, but I do agree also with the critics that Telnic can't compete with Telnames.

I understand the disappointment, but everything isn’t that bad. Sooner or later Telnames will get some attention
and after that gradually all registrars should start providing a nice template for Telnic.

despite the fact that no development for telnic is happening, telnic is absolutely right with this one
telnic's website design for their domains is ugly (telnames domains excluded); in case more pictures would be added to the current templates, it would make them even less attractive
telnic has to find another way, as example the same way as telnames has integrated pictures

Welcome Telnamer to the club who "get it" re .tel's future as mapped-out by Telnic/Telnames !

I just think it's a real shame for Mark, TelCP, etc., who have put so much effort into the development of software for the subdomain version of .tel !

But life isn't always fair - it just seems that .tel is less fair than most !

Of course Telnic turns all suggestions from their community down, because they are busy with serious business. Do you think they have time for this nonsense?
