It would have been good if Telnames would have provided those before the app launch.
Now it seems this important improvement won't happen soon.
I don't want to have an improvement at Telnames.
I want the features from Telnames for my domains at Telnic.
It could make me really angry thinking about how Telnic treats me as one of their old customers.

My mistake; for one moment I forgot we have a two-class system at Telnic.
Thank you Telnic, especially in the name of your customers at Telnames.
Perhaps one day you will remember you still have customers at Telnic, too!

Promoting the 1% of clients (Telnames) and abandoning the remaining 99%...

Creating a Registrar who face unfair competition (and against ICANN regulations) with the regular 120 Registrars that sell .tel...

Commercially it's absurd and counterproductive.

Totally agree with the above conclusion by Silvano.

But as I said at http://www.teltalk.org/t639p8-registrars-to-start-dropping-tel-soon#3587
I believe Telnic/Telnames realise this - if you look at the Telnic shareholder list there are some very influential people/companies - it remains to be seen which way they jump ?

It seems everybody shares the same opinion, but Telnic is very stubborn and don't want to adjust the business to customer needs. Is this typical for British people?

Not Really - here's one British guy whose worldwide brand (approx 300 companies) has been built around giving customers what they want and treating them fairly !

Telnic could learn a lot from the mentality of "Doctor Yes"! Can Telnic not cooperate with people like him?
Telnic has a great business idea; now they need somebody with the right approach and a good business strategy!

http://lazytechguys.com/news/telnames-announces-ios-app-builds-mobile-optimized-site-in-minutes/

Telnames has unveiled its mobile website builder app for the iPhone. Chief Strategist Henri Asseily says the core feature of the app would focus on producing a mobile-ready site in minutes. Typically, most mobile websites focus on key website elements which include contact information, location, products, image galleries, and even forms to communicate with clients. The exec was quick to point out that the service performs these tasks easily along with a variety of other assets.

“SMB’s have been frustrated with current solutions,” says Asseily. “Small businesses are a key part of Telnames’ strategy and I have to believe it will immensely useful to that particular audience going forward.”

The UK-based company has been building solutions for the web for small businesses using the top-level domain .tel for since 2009. In addition to Telnames’ current website builder and tools, Asseily says the company’s service is centered around the user experience of quickly deploying a mobile presence with online discovery and promotion.

“”Today, everyone is on the move and using a point of contact. Telnames offers a service that is simple, searchable and most importantly mobile-optimised,” says Asseily.

The world of mobile apps has been quietly revolutionizing the small business world for a long time now and Telnames has emerged on the scene next to other similar companies such as TechWyze and ITX Design.

The Telnames Mobile Website Builder is available via the Apple App Store. Customers can create and manage a full online profile of their business with contact information, links to social media profiles, business logos, a map and address of their location, promotional offers, photos and a video. Customers can also choose a background image for display on tablets.

Telnames’ $20.99 per year subscription includes the .tel domain name, hosting, social network integration and email support. Check the jump on the PR for more info.

http://www.dnjournal.com/archive/lowdown/2012/dailyposts/20121113.htm

In news from another TLD, Telnames is trying to breath some life into the .tel extension, that has been rarely seen since its 2008 birth, by releasing a new Mobile Website Builder app for the iPhone that was announced today. The company said the app, now available as a free download from the Apple App Store, "enables professionals and businesses to buy and create their own mobile-friendly website in less than 10 minutes with just their thumb."

Telnames CEO Khashayar Mahdavi said, "We believe this app changes the game by removing all the complexities involved in buying and building a mobile-ready website. From today anyone, regardless of technical ability, can get their own place online in a matter of minutes." More information on the application and Telnames can be found at http://telnamesapp.tel.

Could this be the Killer App that .tel so desperately needs ?

The Telnames Press Release can be found at http://blog.telnames.com/telnames-disrupts-domain-industry-with-mobile-app-for-iphone

Here's a couple of ambitious quotes from it (the first is the heading itself)

Telnames disrupts domain industry with mobile app for iPhone
Telnames (http://telnames.com) is today transforming the domain name industry...
One thing does appear very obvious following the press release - there is not much room left in this brave new .tel Telnames world for the original Telnic subdomain .tels - not sure whether this also applies to the registrars who currently handle them ?

http://MikeSeaton.tel

PS. I've given them a plug at http://twitter.com/mikeseaton

It depends on the answers to the following questions:
  • Do domain owners want to own a website without folders and limited to 20 contacts?
  • Are SMBs without website yet willing to register a domain via their cell phone without investigating first which competitors offers the best solution?
  • Are domains in general salable via mobile channels?
  • Do SMBs and professionals want to do quick and spontaneous domain registrations or do they prefer a slower purchase process through desktop computers for such an important decision to think it through carefully?
  • Are the advantages of a fast and easy domain registration and website administration bigger than the ability to have extended content and flexibility in website design?
  • Do prospects understand the advantages of .tel?
  • Does .tel provide the ability for individual branding to the .tel owners?
  • Will .tel domains from Telnames be found easily by cell phone users searching for specific services?
  • Does .tel give the possibility to support product sales or are the possibilities limited to contact the domain owner?
  • Are .tel domains able to generate more customers for SMBs by displaying contact data only instead of product information?
  • Is the new app from Telnames so much better than the old app "My.tel" from Telnic?
  • How the "Mobile Website Builder" wil get widespread attention?

    Increase of marketing
  • Does .tel provide the ability for individual branding to the .tel owners?
    Allowing flexible sorting of content
  • Will .tel domains from Telnames be found easily by cell phone users searching for specific services?
Providing an advanced search engine for .tel / Developing Telpages
  • Does .tel give the possibility to support product sales or are the possibilities limited to contact the domain owner?
Allowing extended text for product descriptions
  • Are .tel domains able to generate more customers for SMBs by displaying contact data only instead of product information?
Allowing extended text for product descriptions
  • Is the new app from Telnames so much better than the old app "My.tel" from Telnic?
Yes, domain registrations are possible and the handling is much better
  • How the "Mobile Website Builder" wil get widespread attention?
    Strong increase of marketing
