TEL is not a website!

Post by Richy on Thu 10 Jan 2013, 5:06 pm

The complains I have become aware about are all about TEL isn't on a par with other domain extensions. And that is a fact nobody can deny. First it needs to be understood TEL isn't about website design or domaining. The purpose of TEL is not providing websites, graphics or contents. Nobody takes TEL serious as long everybody tries to put them next to existing products. TEL is not in this world to be better than websites as we have known them for so long. TEL is about connecting people fast and comfortable and it will take the place in an area which is not occupied by other products. So please forget about the discussion of deficits in design. Any development in this direction won't bring TEL faster to the scenario which has to be created first. What we need are dialing solutions based on the DNS. The current control panel from Telnic is already a perfect solution for supporting this idea. The question is only how we can bring TEL closer to the audience! Approaching end users is the complete wrong way, because they can't help integrating TEL into new technologies. The only thing that can make TEL big is negotiating with telephone manufactures, technology producers and communication services. There are hundreds if not thousands of potential partners in the world for this. Telnic will need a big project team to speak to all of them. You can think about how big that task is! But this will and can happen only in silence without involving any public noise! You can discuss as much as you want about wanted development and adapting TEL to needs of website owners, but the decision making about the future will happen without informing anybody outside the inner circle and on a complete different playground. This can happen to be the next real big thing and one of the most important game changers of this century.

Richy, may I ask you, do you have any of your TEL developed? Or you have only Telnames TEL?

Richy is right!
Why any company interested in presenting its products on the internet should be interested in buying a .tel?
All companies can find tons of offers to build stunning design.
But if a company wants to be reached by phone quicker than in the past, then .tel is more than worth considering!
The problem are the bad SEO results from .tel, especially from Telnames due to the missing subdomains.
So far .tel enables the internet users to call the website owner quick, but the question remains how an internet user can find the website under .tel?
A global phone book needs to be introduced for this purpose.
What can this be? Telpages currently doesn't look like one.
Perhaps in the future it can be a combination out of Telpages and Telfriends.

That is the reason why Telnic have stopped servicing the domain industry, because they have learned not much support is coming from there. It's better to focus on their core competence which is not website hosting!

In the moment Telnic is focusing on Telnames.
What is their core competence if not slim and mobile website hosting?

I guess I've learned here what Telnames is: the attempt to reach critical mass for .tel! But the vision is certainly more and something bigger!

My guess is that Telnames is an attempt to earn money - and nothing more.

And I've learned that "Critical mass" and other similar things are something like Christmas tales for easy-believers.
